The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is the second oldest botanic garden in the United Kingdom (after the University of Oxford) and one of the oldest scientific gardens in the world. Rydo developed a close working relationship with the creative programmes team while designing and providing direction for the arts manifesto By Leaves We Survive as the garden entered its historic 350th year. Initial consulting for design of an anniversary exhibition Garden of Possibilities was sadly derailed by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic but a small-scale precursor was able to take place and displayed in the Scottish Parliament.
As the garden reopened, subsequent design and promotional work followed for other exhibitions including Florilegium: A Gathering of Flowers and a solo show by highly-celebrated photographer Levon Biss; The Hidden Beauty of Seeds & Fruits. The artists’ moving image exhibition Future Ecologies / We Are Here was unfortunately impacted by restrictions and indefinitely postponed shortly before it was scheduled to open.
