Scottish singer-songwriter Jo Mango released this collector’s edition double A-side 10-inch vinyl in 2010 to favourable reviews for both its music and presentation. The approach taken with the art direction was relatively simple — utilise and emphasise the contrast between light and shade to reflect the subject matter: moths, flock starlings, the sun and the moon.
Packaging was designed from the inside out, starting with the two heavyweight vinyl discs
— one black and one white — each laser etched with beautiful, delicate illustrations by Hanna Tuulikki. Also to be discovered within the bespoke, foil blocked outer sleeve: a generously proportioned fold out reversible poster with the starlings’ black sun to one side and the moths’ guiding moon on the reverse.
